Golden Lion in Good Beer Guide 2014
Town pub in bible of real ales
Penarth has become a bit of a haven for real-ale enthuasiasts according to a guide on where to find the best beer across the country.
The Golden Lion pub on Glebe Street has been named in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide 2014.
It joins fellow local boozer The Bear’s Head. The guide is the ultimate lowdown on the best real ale pubs in the UK, according to its website.
Just 4,500 pubs were chosen from the 50,000 in Britain.
Golden Lion landlord Jon Bassett said he was “thrilled”. Manager Paul Harper said the pub supported Welsh brewers. There are three on tap behind the bar – Vale of Glamorgan, Kite Brewery and Felinfoel.
